Igniting Minds was an approved supplier for the NCVO Big Assist programme that allocated up to £7,000 of capacity building funds to infrastructure organisations.
We we were approved providers to deliver services under our specialist areas of
- Strategy, planning and managing change
- Marketing and strategic relationships
- Supporting and developing people and organisational culture
Hammersmith and Fulham Refugee Forum were awarded capacity building funds to increase their financial sustainability and Igniting Minds were contracted to deliver a business development programme.
The forum and its members had been severely weakened by loss of funding. They employed one person 2 days per week and many of their membership groups had no paid employees, relied on the support of volunteers and had identified skills needs around IT, marketing and social media.
Igniting Minds facilitated a strategic planning day with the board of trustees. At the end of the day they had created a new business strategy with vision, mission and values and 6 key objectives. This was the key for unlocking future investment and the Big Assist allocated a further £4,000 to support the committee to capacity build the organisation to deliver the strategy.
Igniting Minds has consulted the membership and undertaken an environmental scan to identify funding opportunities and will facilitate a second consultation day with the board to create and agree an operational and fundraising plan. Following on from this we will type up and disseminate the plans and develop 4 small funding bids to meet the identified gaps in resources.
